The Flying Duck
Big warm welcome to our sponsors The Flying Duck!
The Flying Duck - Glaswegian Underdog and Subterranean Haunt
Probably Glasgow's best kept dirty little secret, The Duck is a bit of an underrated oddity. Combination bar-diner-party-event-gig space and little sister to widely known and reputed Mono, Stereo and The 78, the Duck's always been a bit of an underdog in Glasgow's vegan network. To be honest, we kind of like it like that.
Opening in 2007, the Duck followed a bit of a different path to the usual animal free joints we all know and love. Initially a free and easy club-gig & bar space, people regularly lost hours (and got lost trying to find us) in the depths and delights of our little lo-fi haunt. Regular top-class club nights, a hot list of guest bands/DJs and events as well as a bit of a special set of decor made the Duck a bit of a beloved treasure in Glasgow's heart.
BUT change is good for the soul. We gave the place a bit of an extensive refit over the last year and upped the ante on our food front, with a dirty and delicious diner style menu, think burgers, biiiiig hot dogs, macaroni cheese and boozy milkshakes. It's served fast, low fuss and it's served late - til 22hr sun-thu, 23hr fri + sat.
Everything that The Duck has always been is still here - a lo-fi shabby vibe, a lively event and party scene, board games, film screenings, whatever goes really. It's a chilled out, unpretentious hideout.
You won't know if you like it when you first get down, but that's its charm.
