Christine Vardaros is a pro international cyclist - both vegan and competing professionally since 2000. In addition, she is a freelance journalist, writer and translator. Her client list includes CYCLOCROSS magazine, Grit.CX, Start-Box.Be, Marin Independent Journal, Contra Costa Times, VegNews magazine, The Vegetarian and CyclingNews.com. Vardaros also serves as spokesperson for The Vegan Society, IDA (In Defense of Animals) and PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine). She has spoken at events such as Veggie Pride Parade in NYC, World Vegetarian Day in San Francisco, International Animal Rights Conference in Luxembourg, Paris Vegan Day and ECOPOP - Belgium's Ecological Biological Conference.
In addition, Christine is a founding member of the Marin County Bicycle Coalition, and a member of the athlete's advisory board for the Stone Foundation for Sports Medicine and Arthritis Research. And she's never owned a car. Having split her time between New York City and San Francisco for most of her life, Vardaros now resides in Belgium with her husband Jonas, their eighteen bikes and an organic garden in the backyard.
